Despite the fact that he’s not cool with Shatta Wale, rapper Yaa Pono has come out to congratulate his fellow. In a tweet, he said the Already visuals is a great piece.
“Great piece @shattawalegh @beyonce more energy”, he tweeted.
The ‘beef’ between Yaa Pono and Shatta Wale began in 2017 when the former was prevented from performing at a show at the Cape Coast Stadium where the latter was the headline act.
Yaa Pono later said he was not allowed to come on stage because his performance would have overshadowed Shatta Wale’s shine.
Manager of the Dancehall artiste then, Julio Olympio, in a Facebook post suggested that Yaa Pono peddled untruth.
“… Shatta has made it a point to suggest Yaa Pono anytime event organizers ask which act he wants on his platform so why this unnecessary rants…when clearly it’s either your road manager isn’t working with time? Or rather direct your rants to the producers of the event…Same thing happened in Abetifi…Unnecessary, Unnecessary, Unnecessary hype ….” the post read.
Unhappy with the attack he was faced with on Facebook, the Amen hitmaker took to Instagram and challenged anyone to disrespect him or say “fi”.
Shata Wale took up the challenge and released the song ‘Say Fi’ to counter Pono’s claim of being Ghana’s most loved lyricists.
But the Uptown Energy front-liner Yaa Pono, well known for his wordplay, brought the heat back to the game with his fired-up song “Gbe Naabu’, a song that made fun of the dancehall artiste’s mouth, his works and his lifestyle.
Many Ghanaians waded in the beef trying to figure out which song they loved more and who had the best lyrical content.
