SCANDAL: Match Commissioner allegedly takes bribe to influence the outcome of Division One League game

Barely three years after the Number 12 football corruption exposé in Ghana an audio has surfaced in the Ghanaian media space in which a match commissioner identified as Ibrahim Fuseini was attempting to doctor the match officials report.

Fuseini was appointed match commissioner for the matchday 3 game between former Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United and Nkoranza Warriors along with referees Abdul Karim Abdul-Ganiu, Forkor Aliou, Issah Mumuni Baguricher and Issifu Mustapha (fourth referee).

The Ghana Football Association and the Division One League board is yet to take any action on the scandalous revelation which is widely shaming the brand of the Ghanaian football governing body.

According to eye-witness accounts from the game that took place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium officiating in the game was hugely dissatisfactory as the home side benefited from dodgy refereeing decisions and dubious calls leading to a 2-1 home win for RTU.

The motive and intentions of the match officials became apparent at the final whistle when the match commissioner stormed the dressing room of the four referees to convince to hand over money allegedly taken from the home side to the referees.

In the audio circulating on social media Fuseini is clearly held mentioning that a good Samaritan from the home side has given him money to be shared among the four referees but the four turned the money down and insisted they could be caught and punished by the Ghana FA.

During the exchanges in the leaked audio the match commissioner is clearly heard encouraging the referees to accept the money and agree to write a doctored report to the Ghana Football Association’s Match Review Panel.

“We can all write the same report to the GFA. This will help us avoid any case of being found out and escape any punishment. The money is from a good Samaritan from the home side who just want to dash you this money for your transportation,” Ibrahim Fuseini is allegedly heard saying in the leaked audio.

Nkoranza Warriors have become victims of atrocious refereeing in the 3-week-old Division One League season in Zone 1.

Warriors, owned by seasoned football administrator Leslie Kuuku Bartels, suffered similar fate in their opening game of the season against Young Apostles.
