Accra Great Olympics spokesperson Saint Osei has stirred up the atmosphere ahead of Saturday’s big derby by mocking biggest rivals Hearts of Oak on radio.
In a contemptuous fashion the scribe for the in-form Wonder Club made a statement that will anger the teeming fans of the Rainbow club who will be in their numbers at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts and Kotoko are one of the biggest rivals in world football and have won the Ghana Premier League title 44 times in between them with Kotoko having won it 4 more times than Hearts.
Fans of the two clubs don’t see eye to eye and each regard the defeat of the other a sign of victory and good omen.
Great Olympics defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 in their matchday 4 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium in a game that led to the sacking of Maxwell Konadu as the head coach of the Porcupine Warriors.
A victory against Hearts on Saturday will be regarded as a victory for Kotoko in many yard and measure.
Ahead of the big kick off Saint Osei has made a statement on Accra-based Happy FM that would probably anger fans of Hearts.
“We even defeated Kotoko how much more Hearts of Oak? Kotoko have a bigger pedigree than Hearts of Oak and that is an incontestable fact,” he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware.
“I will not go into the score of the match but what I know is we will get all the maximum points from the match,” he concluded.
Hearts hammered Great Olympics 4-0 the last time they clashed at the venue in the Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians sit 5th on the Ghana Premier League table with 16 points from 10 games and are undefeated in their last 5 games which translates into 3 wins and 2 draws.
Olympics are just a point shy of Hearts’ 16 but they can only boost of a win from their last 5 games (1 W, 2 D & 2 L).
