Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko could appoint former Ghana national team head coach James Kwesi Appiah as the new head coach of the club, according to Accra-based Asempa FM.
The soft-spoken tactician has been without a club since leaving his post as head coach of the Black Stars in 2020.
Kotoko’s top hierarchy remain unconvinced by the performance of duo Johnson Smith and Ibrahim Gazele who have been steering the affairs of the technical team since Maxwell Konadu was sacked in December 2020.
According to a report filed by Kumasi-based journalist Richard Smith Donkor on Asempa FM, some board members of Kotoko have already engaged the former Al Khartoum head coach to return to the club as the head coach.
Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer of the club Nana Yaw Amponsah has reportedly penciled down a list of top 5 coaches to be considered for the job. The list consists of 3 foreign coaches and two local managers.
It is unknown whether Kwesi Appiah is ready to return to the club as head coach.
